Double sliding windows
These are considered the more contemporary option when you opt for sliding windows. They comprise of two movable sashes. As such, they open up at either end rather than simply sliding them open from one single side. Since they do not take up much of your interior or exterior space, they make a good option for kitchen counters and other rooms that may not have enough space to push windows in or out to open them. If you are worried about pests flying in during the warm summer months, you can have a screen on the inside or outside of the windows.
Single sliding windows
These types of windows comprise of one stationary frame of glass and one sliding sash. Thus, they can only be opened and closed using one end of the window. Single sliding windows will typically not provide as much ventilation as their double sliding counterparts. However, they are a cheaper option, thus making them better suited to individuals who may want these types of windows but are strapped for cash. Since there are fewer components that make up these windows, they have a lower price range when compared to their double sliding counterparts. However, it should be noted that the pricing could increase depending on the materials used as well as the size of the single sliding windows.
Custom sliding windows
These types of windows tend to be smaller when compared to the other two alternatives. They are typically installed either over an existing window or under it, depending on your needs. Custom sliding windows are typically not used as primary windows rather are installed to bring in additional light and ventilation into the room. They are a good option if you are not looking to replace your existing windows but would still like to enjoy the benefits of sliding windows.
